The Oceanic Student Association (OSA) has been active at the University of Michigan since September 12th, 2021. The mission of our organization is to support and build community between students at the University of Michigan with ties to Oceania. We do so through promotion and exploration of Oceanic culture and engagement in discourse and education with the larger University of Michigan community on social and political matters that affect the national and international Pacific Islander community.
"The Oceanic Student Association (OSA) seeks to provide a space for students of either Polynesian, Micronesian, or Melanesian descent or are interested in cultural, social, and political issues relevant to the Pacific..." (OSA Contract, 2021)
Our student members provide representation from each sub-region of Oceania: Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia, and our organization is open to any students from each of the University of Michigan's districts including U of M Ann Arbor, U of M Dearborn, and U of M Flint.
75% of our members are pursuing a Master's degree or higher &
25% are completing their undergraduate degrees.
Our members' academic pursuits and interests cover a wide variety of fields from STEM to American Culture to Business.
