Nafisa Nuzhat

My first exposure to research and science began in undergrad when I was working as a undergrad research assistant for Dr. Jason Spence. That opportunity was available to me only because I needed to earn and provide for myself financially. Since then, I have been following every professional opportunity with the dual intention of becoming a better scientist and also for financial independence. As a first generation muslim PhD Student in the life sciences (and in my family), I am motivated to cultivate an atmosphere for others like me to feel seen and accepted in these spaces.
