My parents came to this country to provide my siblings and I with a life that they were unable to attain in their native country. As a junior in high school, I struggled to find my college major because I was unfamiliar with many Latina women in the sciences. Ultimately, I am grateful that scared 17 yr/old me took a chance on her dreams of becoming a scientist because it has gotten me where I am today.
