As a first generation college student, and as the oldest child in my family, I had to navigate much of my higher education journey without much prior insight into the world of academia. I had almost no concept of what it meant to earn a PhD when I started undergrad, and the learning curve once I was here at UM was steep. But with the support of many people around me, I have been able to navigate this major undertaking and feel progressively more confident that I am in the right place! Everyone here in PIBS and at UM is here to support you and answer your questions, so don't hesitate to reach out when you need support!
