I am a 1st year PhD Biological Chemistry student born in La Habana, Cuba and escaped shortly after to Puerto Rico where I pursued my B.S. in Integrative Biology at the University of Puerto Rico – Rio Piedras. I applied to graduate school 2 times, the first time being rejected by 10 programs and after a PREP year, I was accepted into all of these 10 programs. My career goal is to diversify science doing non-profit or government work and I am a current board member of the Científico Latino team to streamline the PhD pathway for diverse generations of scientists to come.
